A JOURNEY IN PAINT
ACROSS MANY GENRES
Based in the New England region of New South Wales, Anne Clarke creates her paintings with many layers of paint and glaze. She used light as much as form and colour in the process, often highlighting or minimising it to advantage.
She has an extensive collection of interesting objects mostly found in op shops and the second hand market, which find their way eventually into her work – sometimes painted on their own, or paired with flower or vegetables etc, to find grace and beauty in the everyday and ordinary.
Keen observation of the world around her is paramount in finding something to spark an interest and engage with that subject that can take many months to bring to completion.
She has a large archive of gathered and filed photographs, drawings and studies, to draw from, to make selections for future works.
